Nuno Correia is a researcher and audiovisual artist. He is interested in interactive multi-sensorial experiences. Since 2000, he has been
teaching and conducting research in media art and design, in universities in Portugal, Finland and the UK. Nuno holds a doctoral degree from Aalto University, with the thesis Interactive Audiovisual Objects. He is currently a researcher at Goldsmiths, University of London, with the project Enabling Audiovisual User Interfaces. Nuno’s work has been presented in more than 20 countries, in such festivals as FILE, ISEA, Mapping, Optronica, PixelAche and SXSW.
He will be presenting AVUI, which is an openFrameworks add-on that enables the creation of user interfaces (UI) with integrated audio and visual feedback. Different UI elements are combined into a zone. Each zone has a sound and a correspondent visualisation, which respond to changes in the UI. Multiple sound effects can be used. UI elements can be routed to effect parameters and sound playback options, or outside of a zone. Currently there are 5 visualisations available (Wave, Bars, Circles, Lissajous, Matrix), but these can be easily expandable. It is based on the iPad app AVZones.
