Zak Norman is a British artist, currently living in London. He specializes in installations and other visual media.
His current output focuses on the intersection between science and spirituality, exploring what can be discerned from the points at which they meet. The method involves building complex computer systems to replicate natural processes; using these algorithms as a control mechanism for the audio and visual elements of the piece.
He has collaborated with several musicians, most notably with British artist Squarepusher, designing a generative visual environment, controlled live by audio and geo-locational data gathered from the co-ordinates of each performance.
For Splice Festival Zak will talk in detail about the collaborative process of stage design and how to find the balance between conceptual and emotional motivation in creative work.
